Question: How did you feel before starting your placement at Brimbank City Council?

Before starting my work placement, I felt a wave of mixed emotions. I was extremely nervous about the unknown challenges ahead and whether I could give it my all. I felt pressure to think quickly on my feet and adapt to a completely new environment. I was also focused on trying to connect with the people around me and make a good first impression.

Question: How did you feel about the tasks and responsibilities you were given?

I was excited to prove myself but also worried about meeting expectations. Over time, I grew more confident and comfortable in my role, which made a big difference.

Question: How did you feel working as part of a team or with professionals in the workplace?

Working as part of a team and alongside professionals was both a valuable and eye-opening experience. At first, I felt a bit intimidated and unsure of how I’d fit in or contribute. But as time went on, I began to appreciate the support, collaboration, and knowledge sharing. It taught me how important communication and teamwork are in a professional setting.

Question: How did you feel about your own progress and growth by the end of the placement?

I felt proud. I could see how much I had grown, from those first nervous days to becoming more capable and confident. I developed new skills, built real experience, and felt much clearer about the direction I want to take in the future.

Question: How did you feel this experience influenced your confidence, motivation, or future career goals?

It had a huge impact. It pushed me outside my comfort zone and helped me believe in my ability to handle real-world responsibilities. Working in a professional environment gave me a clearer understanding of what I enjoy and what I’m capable of, which has motivated me to keep pushing forward. I now have a better understanding of the kind of work I enjoy and the areas I want to explore further.

Question: How did you feel applying your skills or knowledge from school in a real-world setting?

Applying what I’d learned in school to a real-world environment was both rewarding and eye-opening. It was satisfying to see classroom knowledge come to life, but it also made me realise how much more there is to learn outside of school. It gave me a deeper appreciation for my education and motivated me to keep building on those skills.

Question: How did you feel when your placement came to an end?

I felt a mix of pride, gratitude, and a little sadness. I was proud of everything I’d achieved and grateful for the experience, but also a bit sad to be leaving a place where I’d grown so much. It was a meaningful chapter that gave me more confidence and direction for what comes next.
