Work Based Learning with Future Connect
Future Connect is a local learning employment Network (LLEN), your local contact point for Work Based Learning across secondary schools in the Brimbank and Melton area.
This includes the Structured Workplace Learning (SWL) Program, a Victorian Department of Education initiative that supports young people aged 15–19 to gain real-world skills through on-the-job experiences. It is designed for students undertaking a Vocational Education and Training (VET) subject in Year 11 or 12 as part of their Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) or Vocational Major (VM) studies. As part of their VET course requirements, students must complete practical hours in their chosen industry to gain hands-on experience and meet the competencies of their training.
Future Connect act as the bridge between students, schools, and employers, bringing these systems together to make workplace learning meaningful and manageable. We ensure that expectations are clear for all parties and that each placement aligns with the student’s interests, the school’s SWL requirements, and the employer’s capacity to create a valuable and supportive experience for everyone involved.
