Community and Parent

Brimbank/Melton LLEN - Community & Parent (CAP) Working Party

The BMLLEN CAP Working Party meets three times per year at the BMLLEN offices in Caroline Springs.

Invited representatives from several organisations attend these working party meetings including:

  • Marian College
  • Brimbank City Council Youth Services
  • Department of Human Services
  • Practical Outcomes & Culinary Skills Australia
  • Department of Education and Early Childhood Development
  • Djerriwarrh Community & Education Services
  • Victoria University Secondary College

The CAP Working Party notes several key issues which have been identified:

  • Career development information for parents (PACTS)
  • Parental engagement forums on relevant issues
  • Student transitions
  • Student engagement programs
  • Improving student aspirations and parental expectations
  • Better service connections
  • Lack of knowledge of what community organisations can offer parents and families
