Upcoming BMLLEN events for 2013

Brimbank/Melton Youth Services Expo (for school staff only): To be held on Wednesday 22 May 2013 from 8:30 until 12:00noon.  The aim of the expo is to connect a vast range of youth service providers with schools and other organisations working with young people.  It is hoped that the outcome will result in service providers being able to showcase and promote their services to schools and other providers and an opportunity for school staff to enhance their knowledge of services available to support young people.  (Services are student welfare based or pathways and transition based).

Futures Forums (Brimbank Schools): Forum is being held on Friday 31 May 2013  from 9:30am until 2:30pm at Victoria University, Sunshine Convention Centre, Ballarat Rd Sunshine.  This forum is aimed at a Year 9 or 10 audience.  The aim of the forum is to raise awareness of the possible future pathways for young people and the requirements to achieve successful outcomes.  Students will be exposed to speakers and workshops covering such issues as:

  • Careers and Future Pathway options
  • Tertiary entry and options
  • VCE/VCAL/VET
  • Apprenticeships/ASBAs/Traineeships
  • Workplace Learning and Work Experience
  • Employability Skills

All presenters are experts in their field.  There is a limit of 125 student registrations.  Schools can register up to 25 students on a “first come, first served” basis.  Some assistance with transport costs will be available upon request.  Don’t try and book yet as invitations will be sent to appropriate school staff closer to the date.

Futures Forum (Melton Schools): Forum is being held on Thursday 13 June 2013.  See above for details.
