Brimbank Melton Youth Services Expo-22 May 2013
The BMLLEN in partnership with Djerriwarrh Community & Education Services (DCES) (Youth Connections) and WCIG hosted the Brimbank Melton Youth Services Expo on 22 May 2013 which was held at Victoria University Sunshine Convention Centre. An invitation to attend the Expo was extended to those service providers who offered services to young people in the Brimbank/Melton area and also Secondary and Primary School staff.
The format of the day included a welcome address by Graeme Brown, Executive Officer of the BMLLEN and Debbie Collings, Operations Manager, DCES. This was followed by a “3 Minute Showcase Your Service” session where speakers were given just 3 minutes to highlight what their organisation could offer to young people in the Brimbank Melton area. This session provided the audience with a brief snapshot of what each organisation had to offer and made it easier to seek out those providers in the market place session of the day.
A delicious brunch followed and then time was allowed to attendees to visit and network with 31 organisations who had set up table displays in the market place area.
Evaluated feedback on the day was overwhelmingly positive, a common theme being that it was a fantastic networking opportunity due to having so many organisations at the one venue.
