Brimbank Careers and Jobs Fair

The Brimbank Career and Jobs Fair, held on 6th August 2013, was organised by the Brimbank/Melton LLEN after successfully making a submission to DEEWR for funding a much needed Careers event in the Brimbank area.

The Career and Jobs Fair was held in the Club Italia function venue in Sunshine and was widely agreed to have been a great success in its’ first year, with over 500 attendees on a cold windy day.  There were 48 exhibitors representing a variety of employment, training and community organisations.  Employment service providers posted vacancies on jobs boards.  Groups of secondary school students from nearby schools attended during the day, and many local employment and training agencies invited their jobseekers along.  There was a very positive response in the feedback from the day:

“We had lots of interest in the programs we run and were able to get flyers and information out about our organisation”.

“We had a lot of interest in our courses for people whose first language is not english.  Our dual certificates and diplomas in aged care, childrens services and health assistance with ESL were a popular choice for the members from the community.  Our VETiS team also received a lot of enquiries about their courses also and will be following this up with the schools they received interest from.”

“We received over 70 students’ names and email addresses who are looking for traineeships”.

“It was very informative, and also helped me decide what university I would like to go to.  Thank you.”

“Carry on doing with this kind of activities, it helps a lot.”
