The re vamped BackDoor Youth Health Clinic was launched amidst music, dancing, and about 100 people on Thursday 1st September.  The Clinic which operated from the Melton Community Health Centre site for many years is now housed in the Melton Shire Youth Facility next door to Melton Health in Barries Rd Melton.  The event was MC’d by Joan Eddy, Manager Counselling, Djerriwarrh Health Services (DjHS) and speakers at the launch included Broden Borg, Deputy Mayor Melton, Glenda Cairns, Director Allied Health, DjHS and the clinic’s GP, Dr Anne Petersen.  Speakers spoke about the importance of having accessible and youth friendly health services in the local area.

Importantly, a number of local young people spoke, including a past client of the clinic, who emphasised the vital support the BackDoor Clinic gave her when she was going through a critical time in her life in relation to both her physical and mental health.

The Clinic is open every Thursday from 4:00pm to 7:00pm.  The service provided is free of charge and an appointment is not needed.  In addition to Dr Petersen, the clinic is staffed by Tara Seelenmyer, Youth Counsellor, DjHS and Louise Antony, Nurse.
