Brimbank Melton Youth Services Expo
On Friday the 25th of May 2012 the Brimbank Melton Youth Services Expo was held at Victoria University Convention Centre in Sunshine. Over one hundred people attended the event which was sponsored by the Brimbank/Melton LLEN in partnership with Djerriwarrh Employment & Education Services (DEES) and WCIG (Youth Connections).
The morning began with an introduction and a brief explanation around the purpose of the Expo by Graeme Brown, Executive Officer of the BMLLEN and Debbie Collings, Operations Manager of DEES. This introduction was followed by a moving presentation by Marcy Beasley who outlined her involvement with the Shire of Melton Youth Services Mentoring Project.
This year’s Expo changed its format to include a 3 minute “Showcase Your Service” session which allowed service provider’s to give a brief outline of their service and what they could offer to schools in the Brimbank and Melton areas.
School staff representing sixteen schools in the Brimbank/Melton area and service providers then moved into the “Market Place” area where over thirty service providers had set up stalls including:
Copies of the updated Brimbank Melton Youth Services Directory were distributed to all atendees on the day and feedback received from completed evaluation forms indicated that those who attended thought the day a very worthwhile networking and information gathering opportunity.
